Individual Counselling

Understand your patterns. Find more room to be yourself.

You might feel anxious when someone pulls away, find it hard to say no, or keep ending up in relationships where your needs seem to disappear. You may be capable and caring on the outside while privately questioning yourself. Trauma or other difficult experiences may have changed how safe you feel with yourself or others. Counselling gives you space to explore these experiences without judgement.

I work with adults who want to understand relationship patterns, recover a sense of self-worth, or explore the lasting effects of trauma. You can begin with what feels present for you now.

You may recognise yourself here

  • You worry about being rejected or abandoned and find yourself overthinking interactions.
  • You put other people’s feelings first and struggle to know or express what you need.
  • You are hard on yourself, even when others see you as confident.
  • You notice the same dynamics across partners, family, friendships, or work.
  • You find conflict difficult or withdraw when closeness feels overwhelming.
  • You want to feel more secure in yourself and in your relationships.
  • A past experience still affects your sense of safety, trust, or choice.

You do not have to match a list to be welcome. We can start with whatever feels most important to you.

How we can work together

We can explore your current experiences alongside the beliefs and earlier relationships that may have shaped them. That might mean noticing what happens when you feel criticised, understanding why it is hard to set a boundary, or finding a kinder way to relate to yourself. If trauma is part of your story, we will talk about what feels safe and manageable; you will not be expected to recount everything at once. The aim is to build understanding and more choice in how you respond to life now.

I offer integrative counselling, adapting our work to you rather than following a fixed script. We will check in on what is useful as we go.

You are enough, just as you are. It’s time to believe it for yourself.

Recovering from anxiety and trauma with laura manly

When trauma is part of your story

Some experiences continue to affect how safe you feel, how you see yourself, and what happens in your relationships. There is no single way trauma looks or feels. We can start with what is happening in your life now and take care over what we explore. You will have a say in the pace and focus of our conversations, and there is no expectation that you tell your whole story straight away. If you needs call for other or additional support, we can talk openly about that.

Blended Therapy: Talking Sessions with Hypnotherapy Recordings

If you would like support between appointments, I also offer blended therapy. This combines talking in the therapy room with personalised hypnotherapy recordings to use at home.

The recordings relate to the themes we explore together, such as anxiety, confidence or self-esteem. We can discuss whether this approach feels right for you and review how it is working as we go.
